A trip to Crater Lake National Park - 8-24-16

A day trip to Crater Lake - a beautiful lake inside a dormant (we hope) volcano.

All along the highway, we followed the Umpqua River and thick beautiful forests

A stop for breakfast at a hidden jewel in the forest - delicious food in an amazing setting!

Another pretty stop (even during the dog days of summer)

Then on to the jewel in the sky - Crater Lake.
This is the deepest lake in the United States.
Maybe that is why the water is so blue!
(I apologize there are so many pictures, but it was so beautiful I couldn't help myself!)

Snow that never melts

The drive along the river and lots of waterfalls
